“A characterful guesthouse set in a pretty and relatively undiscovered village right on the coast. Rooms are bursting with history with plenty of antiques, exposed beams, and beautiful polished wooden floors. Traditional breakfasts are served and there are two sandy beaches within walking distance.”

Hotel Review

Panormos has lots of 'away from it all' charm, but in fact it's just off the main coast highway, only 25km from the sights of Rethymno and an hour from Heraklion airport. In the oldest part of this little harbour village, an arched gateway leads through a high stone wall into Villa Kynthia's secret, flower-filled courtyard, where an ancient pine tree shades a decent sized pool and café-style tables. Breakfast is served here (or in a spacious breakfasting kitchen). The owners, who restored this 19th century building, have kept period touches such as painted or wood-beamed ceilings and polished parquet floors in bedrooms. Furnishings are in keeping, with dark wood furniture, wine-coloured fabrics, vintage carpets, and big brass beds with spotless white linen. Some rooms have balconies, and two can be combined to create family-sized accommodation. There's also a mezzanine apartment with kitchenette and direct access to the pool courtyard, making it ideal for families. Service is friendly and helpful – there's a real sense that nothing is too much trouble here.
