The Kings Head is a Grade II Georgian former coaching inn right in the middle of Hursley, a picturesque downland village between Romsey and Winchester. The eight individually designed bedrooms range from the majestic King Edward VI room, with half tester bed and spacious roll-top bathroom, to the cosy Room 1: Hoby, a single with shower room. All have deep carpets, heavy curtains, antique furnishings including original Victorian tiled fireplaces, and are reached via a positively palatial landing - wide and well lit by fine chandeliers. Downstairs, there is a choice of friendly ‘snug’ with roaring fire or dining room location. Cuisine is quintessentially British and food locally sourced where possible. Think Wookey Hole Cheddar soufflé followed by Hampshire wild venison steak, accompanied by an extensive wine list. A highlight of the Inn is the ‘manual’ Skittles Alley and Cellar Bar (a regular meeting place for the Home Guard during World War II), offering spaces for a variety of quirky events.
