“A family-run retreat in the Atlas Mountains, offering two charming lodges with breathtaking 360° views. Interiors mix Moroccan red clay, simple and elegant bedding and natural textured lamps to create a laid back and chic vibe. Relax by the pool or savour superb home-cooked Moroccan meals”

Hotel review

Weaving into the mountains towards Ouirgane, an hour SW of Marrakech, takes you to an area peppered with hidden gems like the discreet and charming sanctuary of Villa Quince. Within a walled garden, abundant with quince and olive trees, are two Beldi lodges in typical Moroccan red clay. Situated in an elevated spot, behind the main house where the owners reside, one dwelling (Lodge 1) overlooks the vegetable garden and the other fractionally smaller space (Lodge 2) presides over the pool. Each guesthouse has a generous double bed, desk, pair of contoured armchairs, en-suite shower and access to a private terrace.
The family are extremely warm and welcoming and are on hand to make guests’ stay as congenial and comfortable as possible. You are encouraged to feel at home in an informal and friendly atmosphere and take advantage of the roof terrace with panoramic views of the painterly Atlas Mountains (although each lodge will soon have its own rooftop terrace.)
Meals are a highlight and enjoyed on the terrace by the outdoor kitchen or in your room with a fire blazing on colder nights. Mona and Philip once owned a successful restaurant in London and she is passionate about cooking. Food is sublimely flavoursome, innovatively and lovingly cooked in traditional tagine pots using locally sourced ingredients, vegetables from the garden and punctuated with spices.
Every meal is a wonderful culinary surprise. Just like breakfast which might be a basket of fresh baguette and brioche from the local patisserie alongside Berber omelette, pancakes with fruit salad or French toast. The owners are genuinely invested in providing a peaceful place to relax. Noor the daughter takes care of admin with charm and efficiency. While lazy days can be spent with a book by the pool, of course hikers can hire a guide for mountain walks. A day out to the lake is recommended and cooking lessons are available on site for foodies.
This is a tranquil retreat to unwind and reboot. After a couple of days you feel part of the extended family and it’s hard to leave.
