There’s more to Oxfordshire than ethereal ‘dreaming spires’, pretty Thames-side villages, the thatched roofed cottages of the Cotswolds and the rolling Chilterns, these are but some of the charms of this archetypally English county. What about Blenheim Palace, where Churchill was born, near Woodstock, or Kelmscott Manor, home of William Morris, or the Vale of the White Horse with its prehistoric attractions? And here are plenty of pretty towns, Witney is nice, as is Henley-on-Thames. Because it’s so wonderfully English, Oxfordshire is home to a great number of excellent pubs, so when it came to uncovering Oxfordshire’s best pubs with rooms our Gurus had plenty of choice.
There’s nothing quite so nice as getting a bit of advice from the locals when you’re visiting an area, or knowing you’ve a lovely bar to sit in in the evening, rather than having to retire to your room. Oxfordshire’s best pubs with rooms all offer this sort of friendly comfort - and some of them offer a lot more besides.
